Security Awareness Training

Protect your network by using our security awareness training for employees in your business.

All the cybersecurity measures in the world can’t save your network if human error gets in the way. If one employee opens a phishing email, your whole network could be compromised. Our security awareness program educates employees and keeps our clients’ networks safe.

What Do Our Security Awareness Training Programs Involve?

IT security training involves our professionals teaching your employees how to avoid and mitigate security risks. The professionals offer courses in email security, information security, and data protection, among other topics. When we offer these training courses, we ensure that your workforce learns to protect themselves and your entire network from social engineering attacks and other security threats.

What Is Social Engineering?

Social engineering is a type of cyberthreat that involves exploiting human error to access your network’s sensitive data. The most well-known form of social engineering is the phishing email. A phishing attack is disguised as a supposedly normal email from a fellow employee, a C-level executive, or a company the receiver has an account with. The attacker sends these kinds of emails to trick your employees into giving up either sensitive business information, such as computer passwords, or sensitive personal information, such as bank account information. Once the attacker has that sensitive information, they can create a data breach.

How Can Your Employees Avoid Social Engineering Attacks?

When your employees receive an unusual email, they should check the sender’s email address and the subject line. Is the sender someone they would normally receive an email from? Does the email address’s format match your company’s formatting? If the email comes from outside the company, did the employee expect to get an email from that sender? Does the email ask them to click a link or mention a package the employee doesn’t remember ordering? If they answer the first two questions with “no” and the second two with “yes,” the employee has probably received a phishing email.

What Should an Employee Do if They Receive a Phishing Email?

Employees should never click a link in an email if they think it’s a phishing attack. Clicking the link could compromise your network. It’s best if you put policies in place for social engineering attacks to stop employees from interacting with them directly. Put a phishing alert tool in place in your company’s email platform. If an employee believes they’ve received a phishing email, they can click that alert tool to let either your internal IT staff or your managed services provider (MSP) know about it. Once your IT staff or MSP receives that notification, they can perform incident response tasks to mitigate any potential problems.
